Digby, Nova Scotia or Annapolis Royal?

We are planning a trip to Cape Breton Island in June. We plan to travel on to Lunenburg for a night then the Digby area for 2 nights. We found a campground near the town of Digby which is walking distance to the town (may be called Digby campground). We also like the look of Parker's Cove campground near Annapolis Royal. Any suggestions on where to stay? What the towns are like? We have three kids (2-7yr olds and 1-5yr old). We like great food, maybe some music and pubs. Info about the area would be great, too. We love scenic drives and beaches. Thanks everyone for the feedback in advance.

When in June? It's still pretty chilly in NS in June ( especially for camping). Have you considered going later...mid July/August?

Sorry that I cannot comment on the campgrounds.

Just FYI, Pubs won't allow the kids in. Have to be 19+

The summer is my busy season so vacation during that time can't happen. We will be leaving around the 15th for a week. we have a pop-up camper and we will just have to make it work. :) Thanks for the advice.

Im sure June will be wonderful.
Where are you planning to go in Cape Breton? If you are looking for family oriented beach areas
I would suggest Inverness Beach Village (cottages and camping) with a lovely beach. http://www.macleods.com/beachvillage.html
It is also not too far a drive from a great beach at the end of West Mabou Road (a provincial park I believe)

with kids, your best bet is Annapolis Royal. The town has a fort, public gardens, a tidal power plant, and the nearby Upper Clements amusement park. It's no contest to choose which town to visit and i say that as a Digby resident and usual town booster. Of course, you can visit both since we're just 25 minutes apart.

We only spent an afternoon in Digby, and an overnight in Annapolis Royal, but based on those short times I would say stay in Annapolis Royal. SUCH a cute town, Victorian mansions and lovely gardens and forts and shops. I thought it was more picturesque than Digby. If you do stay there, check out the nighttime graveyard tour! It was very cool.
