Delta Center Ville (formerly Radisson)

We have reservations at what was originally the Radison (hotel du governers) but has now become a Delta. Does anyone know why it changed hands? Is this a good location, I understand it is adjacent to the subway and connects to underground shopping. How far of a walk is Old Montreal? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Also would this be a "kid" friendly hotel.

Hi Mary!

If I remember correctly, Hôtel des Gouverneurs I believe is near Berri-UQAM metro stop, the transfer point for the green, orange and yellow lines. You are within 10-15 minutes walking distance of Old Montreal.

The location is fantastic for exploring kid-friendly locales such as the Biodôme and Île Ste. Hélène/Île Notre-Dame. The Metro/bus system in Montreal is amongst the best in the world and can get you really anywhere you want to go in the city.

Whether the hotel is kid-friendly or not, I'm not sure. (Not sure what qualities one would expect in a kid-friendly hotel?) Nor do I know why it changed hands.

Good luck! Dan.

From my experiences at several Delta Hotels, kid-friendly is a good description.
I don't know this particular hotel, and whether the staff has become Deltaized, but chances are, you'll be fine.
You are well on your way to Old Montreal, and the location is pretty good.
BAK

Daniel must be thinking of some other hotel because the ex-Radisson, now Delta Centre-ville is on University Avenue, opposite Place Bonaventure and near Central Station. It is above the Place Victoria metro station. I have stayed at it when it was a Radisson; I thought it a very fine, recommendable hotel. Like Brian, my experiences with Delta, in Ottawa, Montreal and at the Bessy in Saskatoon, have always been positive, so I imagine the hotel is still fine. The Radisson Hotel in downtown Ottawa recently became a Marriott, so perhaps Radisson is leaving the Canadian market or repositioning itself.

Thanks for catching my goof Ron and my apologies to Mary. Having lived in Montreal 5 years, I never stay at a hotel when in town...

Now I wonder what that hotel is that overlooks Berri Square (Place Emilie-Gamelin). I thought it was a Radisson but could be mis-remembering. I also remember another Delta (Delta Montréal) hotel at the corner of Sherbrooke & Aylmer...(this one I'm sure about)...I guess we're talking about a different Delta hotel though and suspect Ron knows better than I.

Anyhow...good luck and have a great trip. Montreal's a fabulous metropolis and your hotel (whichever one it is) should be perfect for exploring the city.

Yes, it has changed hands. Why - who knows? Does it matter? It all depends upon what you consider a "good location". There's easy access from two major highways, which are (to me obstrusively nearby). It is not exactly adjacent to the metro, although there is a stop nearby and you can easily access the undergound from the hotel. It's the only hotel in the city with a revolving bar and restaurant (neither of which are "kid friendly". Whether or not it is otherwise "kid friendly" all depends upon you requirements. Your best bet is to call the hotel directly and ask. You can, of course, walk to Old Montreal from there. You didn't mentio when you plan to visit. In the nasty weather, it's quite a treck, and there are very steep sidewalks along the way.
