Day Trips From Vancouver
Four adults will be staying in Vancouver for about 6 days. We plan a day trip to Victoria but were wondering if it is that much different from Vancouver that we should stay longer.
Are there other suggested day trip we should consider. Thanks, [email protected] |
It would be nice to do Victoria as an overnight trip if you had the time, which you do.
If you've seen all you want to see of Vancouver and still have time on your hands, you could do a day trip to Whistler. I really think that's as much as you're going to be able to fit in. Remember, if you take a car over to Vancouver Island, make a reservation for the ferry at www.bcferries.ca . It would help to know what time of year you'll be travelling and what your interests are. |
We will be in Vancouver either July or August. We like hiking, biking, antiquing and just exploring interesting new places. I will do research on Whistler but give me an idea of what it has to offer.

I'd say that Vancouver and Victoria are very different - with exception to having the same climate and vegetation, you definitely won't be mistaking Victoria for Vancouver.
I agree with Judy that you can always do a side trip to Whistler, but this would be it. If you don't feel like going to Whistler (which is a 2 hour drive approximately, one way), you can always do side-trips within Greater Vancouver, whether that means a drive out to Steveston for browsing the historical sites, buying fish n chips off the wharf, looking at the fishing vessels, etc... or maybe going to North Van to Lynn Canyon, driving along Marine Drive westward to West Van, to Lighthouse Park, all the way to Horseshoe Bay. You could even drive to White Rock (an hour drive) and have lunch on the beach. There's definitely enough within a short drive from the city of Vancouver without having to go that far. |
If biking means mountain biking then Whistler is a must-do

Consider going to Gabriola Island by ferry and spending the day biking and exploring the artist studios. Check it out on the internet. It's rural and lovely.

Oops. Looks like you have to go through Nanaimo to do that trip, but check out a different Gulf Island that has a direct ferry. There are a few and that's a real nice change from the city.
