Day Trip from Vancouver to Victoria is enough ?
I am going to spend 6 nights, 5 days in Vancouver next week and I have planed to spend 3 days in Vancouver, 1 day trip to whistler and 1 day trip to Victoria.
I have just realized that it is going to take me at least 3:30 hs to get to Victoria, and more 3:30 hs to get back. Since I would like to visit the old town, the museum and the gardens I think it will be impossible to do it in just one day. What is your oppinion ?? Thanks Claudia That´s what I intend to visit in each place Vancouver ( 3 dias) Canada Place Harbour Centre (Lookout) Stanley Park Aquário Granvile Island ( mercado ) Robson Stree7 ( shopping ) ,Vancouver Trolley (http://www.vancouvertrolley.com/city...tions_tour.php) para to see points like : Gastow - Water Street, Yaletown, Fairmont Hotel, Vancouver Art Galery ( Café),etc Grouse Mountain Capilano Bridge Victoria ( 1 dia ) - day trip from vancouver Old Town, Harbour, gardes, Royal Museum Whistler ( 1 dia) - day trip from vancouver Just walk around and take the gondola |
Hi Claudia_Neves,
Unfortunately, you can't do Victoria in one day. One night would be tough. Whistler will be ok for a day trip, although I thoroughly enjoyed staying a couple of nights. We had more time, though. |
i'd stay overnight--not sure what you mean by old town though. you can see the gardens and museum plus spend a bit of time walking around the inner harbour (downtown) area in 24 hours.

Hi Claudia,
While it's perhaps physically do-able to get to Victoria and back to Vancouver in a day trip (question mark for me is if there's actually physical time to explore Butchart Gardens and the Royal BC Museum in the fragment of a day you'll have, but perhaps), it sounds much too harried to me. Even if you're a high-octane traveller, I'm going to chime in with the others and recommend at least an overnight in Victoria. (I spent three nights in Victoria when I went for the first time, and never ran out of things to do.) Enjoy that beautiful part of the world! Daniel |

(I just HAD to come here and borrow these telling words, for another thread) {sigh} |
Hi Claudia,
I used to make monthly trips to Victoria from Vancouver, and if you are taking the ferry - time will be tight especially if you are driving. There may also be possible ferry wait if you don't have a reservation. I would suggest you take a one-way ticket on a float plane into Victoria Harbour in the morning (less than a 30 min ride), enjoy your time around the city and the museum because everything is walking distance. Then, I suggest you can take either a public bus (#75) to Butchart Gardens (40mins, will need to bus/taxi to ferries after) or a Pacific Coachlines Charter that stops at Butchart Gardens before taking you to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal and back to Tsawwassen where you can park (about $100). The float plane ride is just a tad pricier than taking the ferry with a vehicle, but you save a lot of time since you can fly out of downtown vancouver or richmond. Hope that helps and enjoy your trip! http://www.diamondstarholidays.com |
