cross country and downhill skiing in Quebec
 

Hello there!

We are looking for a hotel or resort which would offer cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. Last year we went to Chateau Bromont which was lovely but not everyone in our family downhill skis - we were hoping to find a place where there would be cross country skiing as well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Great downhill and the largest Cross Country network in Canada. 1/2 hour out of Quebec City, so go for a wonderful day trip there. Stay at the resort and enjoy activities there. Also some shopping close to resort.http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction...re_Quebec.html
Historic cathedral 15 minutes away.

Mont Tremblant has some very nice trails that are always well groomed. And from the parking lot (where you pay) you can pick relatively flat trails or hillier trails though the forest. There are also trails along the river:

Tremblant also has some back country trails if someone really wants to visit nature.

By the way Ottawa-Gatineau has some modest downhill skiing but an incredible network of cross country trails, with the opportunity to camp overnight in cabins.

Mt. Orford Park in the Eastern Townships. Mt Orford's vertical drop is 540 meters.

Morin Heights area in the Laurentions is known for its cross country trails. Ski Morin Heights has a vertical drop of 200 meters (Bromont has 385)

I would not finalize plans too early. Cross country is more dependent on natural snow than downhill. It is rare in Quebec for all areas to have good conditions at the same time. Last winter the best cross country skiing was in the Montreal region.

Mont Ste-Anne is excellent for both downhill and cross-country skiing. It's a short drive to Le Massif, probably the best ski hill in Canada east of the Rockies. You can also visit Quebec City while you're there.
