Confused for Nova Scotia Trip
 

Need any input. What would you do and where would you stay if you had 1 week in Nova Scotia. This would be for 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 8. Thanks in advance.

You failed to mentioned what time of year you will be coming?<BR><BR>The busker festival is usually the first week of August held on the Halifax Waterfront. Lots of entertainment and the kids would really enjoy it. Also Halifax offers Discovery Centre, the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of the Atlantic (where there is a titanic exhibit). The waterfront also boasts plenty of watertours including whale watching. Oh, don't forget the Harbour Hopper - a vehicle which takes you from a land tour to a water tour. Great fun! Peggy's Cove is a close drive and the kids would enjoy "rock jumping". Point Pleasant Park in the city's south end is a great place to hike and enjoy sail boats as they past by. Any downtown hotel - Westin, Sheraton, etc. has indoor pools and the kids would enjoy. There are also beaches in the surrounding area - Crystal Crescent, Lawrencetown. Although not known for their warm water, they are great for the kids to enjoy. Lawrencetown usually has waves and surfers.<BR><BR>Although you can spend your entire week in the Halifax area, Nova Scotia has so much to offer. Cape Breton boasts some of the best scenery (Cabot Trail). There is the fortress of Louisbourg, Graham Bell museum, Miner's Museum, whale watching in Cheticamp or Pleasant Bay. Great beaches as well. On your way from Halifax, check out some of the warmer waters in the New Glasgow/Pictou area (Melmerby is a favorite). Town of Pictou offers a replica of the Ship Hector. It was launched two years ago - not sure if they are actually using it. Town of New Glasgow in July boasts a Riverfront Festival with great entertainment.<BR><BR>There are so many festivals and events that happen here in the summer. Hope this bit of info helps.

We did 1 week in Nova Scotia 3 years ago when our kids were close the the ages of your. We took ferry into Yarmouth and then drove clockwise around Nova Scotia (skipping Cape Breton which I know is beautiful but with kids that age a little scenery goes a long way.) We stayed in Digby and were there for the scallop festival. Continued to Halifax for a street performer festival and then down towards Lunenberg. Along the way we found more than enough to stop and see. One added bonus was that at the time with US-Canada monetary exchange rate, the kids were able to order lobster specials many time for not much more than a Supersized McDonald's meal.
