Columbia Icefields Parkway

You know that is better than Jasper and Banff in Alberta?
The highway that links them together: Columbia Icefields Parkway.
Our best drive in Canada by far!

Apart from Jasper and Banff national parks, Alberta is world famous for a highway that links these parks. Highway 93 North, also known as Columbia Icefields Parkway is one of the top drives in the world! The journey between the two parks is a mere 232 km that should take you 3 hours to complete but instead took us 11 hrs to finish.

What it is so special about this drive? It is far more than just a drive, it is grand journey that is full of jaw dropping sights and discoveries. If you ever plan on making a bucket list, add this drive. From wildlife encounters, towering waterfalls, massive glaciers to snow capped peaks around every bend, you will not be disappointed. We were stopping every 5 minutes for pictures. Every bend takes you to a new visual spectacle.

I wish there was a way to share images with the readers.

For anyone looking for a cheap place to stay, there is a HI hostel near the north end of the Parkway about 4 miles SW of Jasper.

I have had the good fortune to be able to travel to different countries, but I have never been anywhere as beautiful as this . The drive from Banff to Jasper took us all day going and then another full day when we left Jasper going to Banff.

I think that we stopped every 10 minutes at a pull-off to take pictures
