Thanks Tom, for a most enjoyable and colorful trip report. It was worth waiting for.

Thanks Treesa. Autumn in Canada was wonderful!

Good news in Montréal. One of our favorite restaurants from our 2019 trip has reopened. Un Po Di Più, located in the Vieux-Port de Montréal (Old-Port) has reopened for dining. If in Montréal, give it a shot for some good Italian. Glad it survived.

Tom, I just love all of your Trip Reports and really appreciate your detail and authentic opinions. I have a couple of questions for you about this.
Flying from LAX with only 6 nights to spare, and not a family who likes to rent a car and drive in unknown territory (although we could), how would you divide your time and what transportation do you recommend? There are not great air routes to Quebec City; flights are 8 hours +. You mentioned above taking the train between Montreal and Quebec City, then renting a car for the return. Quebec City seems to be more of what we like... EUROPE!!! ;) This is going to be a trip to replace a postponed trip to Madrid and Andalucia with our three kids in their 20s. We love all you have described here: restaurants, bars, churches, museums, architecture, cobblestone streets and some beautiful walks in nature. Thanks in advance! |
Yes, QC is more like Europe to us, too, but Montréal has a lot to offer. You might just want to split three nights in both places. Fly to Montréal. You could take the train each way. Outside of that little stretch of Chemin du Roy, it's not anything you must do. What time of year are you traveling? The autumn colors were something to behold, as you saw on our Québec City day trip to the falls and cathedral (oh, and the ice cream, of course) Have a great trip!

Thanks Tom! We would be going in mid-June this year. Yes, your pictures were amazing! The train looks about 3 hours, is that right?
|
"The train looks about 3 hours, is that right?"
That's correct. We left at 9 a.m. from Montréal and hit Québec City slightly after noon. |
We are heading to Montreal in July and QC right before Christmas. Great report as always!
