Christmas in Montreal?
I've heard that Montreal at Christmas time is beautiful. My wife and I are planning on staying at the Hotel Nelligan around the holiday season. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Montreal at Christmas is nice although can be cold. Highlights include sleigh ride on Mount Royal, skating at Beaver Lake, the department store windows, shopping underground. Have a wonderful time.

Judy,
Can you tell me more about the sleigh rides at Mont Royal and skating at Beaver Lake, or direct me to a web site? I've been to Montreal but I'm not familiar with Beaver Lake. Thanks,
J

Dali, very seldom lately we have a White Christmas here in Montreal. If you mean the snow when saying Montreal at Christmas time is beautiful, be prepared for no snow but it will be nice, cold, windy and it may rain. Real winter in Montreal with or without snow

No, not so much concerned about the snow, just wondered if things were open, restauraunts open, etc. Heard that the city was decorated beautifully and was a fun place to be at the holiday time.

Very excited to read about Montreal being so wonderful during Christmas, but we will be there just after Christmas and for New Year's Eve. Anything happening on New Year's Eve that would be fun for all ages? My father and daughter (15) will be with my husband and I. What area of the city is the best place to stay? Downtown, near the Frech Section or the Mount?

The Nelligan in old town seems like it would be a nice place that time of year. I understand they have suites with a fireplace so you might ask if you call. There are a lot of reviews of the Nelligan on his site. However, we have never been in old town during the Holidays and perhaps other areas have more decorations.
