Chilliwack BC motels

This probably a long shot but does anyone know of reasonably good accommodations in Chilliwack? Best Western, Rhombus, other?

Best Western, etc. is there. I've seen them although I've never stayed. Chilliwack is not exactly a noted tourist destination but it does have some decent places to overnight.

I've never had reason to stay there either. Does one place strike you as looking any better than another?

April,

Just searching online I came across the Royal Hotel which might be kind of interesting. :)

http://www.valleyimall.com/royal/history.html

April: Perhaps you have to stay in Chilliwack for some reason. As has been noted, there isn't much there. Not too far is the charming little town of Langley. The Travelers Hotel is a great B&B in Langely. Restored old mansion; beautiful and nice owners. Ft. Langley, an early Hudson Bay Company Fort and the first settlement in British Columbia is a very interesting site. Bedford House is a very good restaurant. Have fun.

Good suggestions, Robyn and Joe. I will look into them. Yes, we're going to Chilliwack for an event and will be there only one night. Thanks for the restaurant recommendation too.

Why stay in Langley when the event you are attending is in Chilliwack?
I grew up in Chilliwack, so here is is scoop on the hotels.
The Rhombus is located in downtown Chilliwack, about 10 minutes off the highway. It used to be a Holiday Inn and is probably the newest hotel in town. You can walk to restaurants and shopping from there.
The Best Western Rainbow Country Inn is located at the Lickman Road Exit at the West end of Chilliwack. The rooms overlook an indoor courtyard with a great pool and restaurant. You will need your car here.
The Royal Hotel used to be quitea run down place. it may have been updated since I have last been there.
It is also located right downtown, and the area is OK.
There is also a Travelodge. Well located right off the highway, but closer in than the Bestwestern. It has an indoor pool, continental breakfast, and an ABC Restaurant
Good Luck.
Lynette

Thanks, Lynette. Amazingly, the Rhombus and Best Western are completely booked for the date we need. The man at the Rhombus said he heard the Royal is 'nice'. So we've reserved there and will hope it's ok. If not, I guess we can flee to a neighbouring town although, as you say, it would be inconvenient.

Well I drive thru Chilliwack regularly and the downtown ain't much-politely put.
April-for one night why not look for a B&B?
Some of the people I see at night walking the streets of Chilliwack particularly the ones that frequent bars like the Royal-ain't too friendly lookin'.

Hedgehog Hollow B&B
Quiet, country atmosphere - In a quiet country setting, surrounded by rivers, lakes and breathtaking mountains. you're only minutes away from sightseeing, shopping, golfing, fishing, hiking, river-rafting, swimming, waterslides, paragliding and much more.
Email: [email protected] Phone: (604) 824-9525 Address: 45235 Bluejay Ave.
Chilliwack, BC Rates: Low season $45 - $55 High season $50 - $60

Not affiliated etc.,etc.

Now you're creeping me out, Carl. I'm not a fan of B&Bs but in this case I'll give them a look. Don't suppose there's a lovely lodge nearby.

Susan Aug 2nd, 2002 05:02 AM

I'm in Chilliwack at least once a year for a couple of weeks at a stretch (I spent some of my younger years there and my family still live there). Granted the downtown isn't all that pretty, but I don't think it's particularly rough.

We were unsure... so we're staying in Abbotsford instead. (We actually needed more than one room - not always easy at B&Bs.) Thanks all.
