CASTLE MOFFETT, BADDECK, N.S.

Hello

Has anyone stayed at this Castle Moffett Inn, on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia?

Thanks.

Joanada

Haven't stayed but have driven past. It is about 15 minutes before Baddeck on the main highway.

I have stayed in Baddeck at both the Telegraph House and Inverary Inn. I would recommend the Inverary - although a larger facility. The Telegraph house was suitable, but not all rooms are air conditioned.

However, the Telegraph House also rents a 3 bedroom house for around $169/night which was fantastic! We had two couples travelling together and it was perfect - nice veranda, barbeque and a skip, hop and a jump to the Village. Oh yes, clean, clean, clean!

Hi Joanada,

My husband and I stayed at Castle Moffett for two nights in 1997. We very much enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were gracious and accommodating. Our room was beautifully appointed, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was served around their large dining room table where we had the opportunity to visit with other guests. We were made to feel like welcome guests in the Moffett home rather than "paying" guests in an inn.

Hi Joanada:

From your postings it looks like you are looking for the nicest places to stay in the Atlantic provinces.

I would advise giving southern Nova Scotia and Halifax consideration--not just Cape Breton. Castle Moffett has gotten very mixed revues here and elsewhere and you should make sure it will be your kind of place. I have only heard good things about Kingsbrae. You might also want to look at the Prince George hotel in Halifax, Fox Harbr Resort in Nova Scotia, and Trout Point Lodge (www.troutpoint.com).

Hi

Thanks for your help. We have been to Nova Scotia before, 30 odd years ago.

We will be staying at the Prince George in Halifax and chose DesBarres Manor Inn, Guysborough, which is convenient for day a couple of day trips to Cape Breton and Lousibourg.

Thanks again. Joanada

Castle Moffett is a fake plastic castle in a horrible location.
