Canadian Passport Question

Can a relative act as guarantor for my photo? In other words could my son who is a cop authenticate my photo?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, robjame: Yes, your son who is a cop can act as your Guarantor with respect to your photo. "A relative may act as a Guarantor for passport purposes provided he or she meets the specified requirements." A "police officer", among a long list of others, is an "eligible guarantor". In addition, your son must be a Canadian citizen residing in Canada. Also he must have known you for 2 years....which is obvious!! So, your son meets all 3 of the "Eligible Guarantor" reguirements.

Thanks Wow. We are in the States now and trying to get things in order for a renewal upon our return.

Canadian Passports are not renewable. When yours expires you have to make a new application. Maybe that's what you meant when you said you were getting things ready for a "renewal".
You can apply online.
