Canadian Currency
 

I understand the official currency there is Canadian Dollar (and US??). However is the Euro generally accepted at most places such as stores, supermarkets, movie theater , hotels for everyday payments? Do they give official exchange rates or is a premium paid? If so, how much?

You shd get Canadian money. If I went to Italy I wld get Euros & not expect stores, etc to accept my Canadain dollars! US & Canadian dollars are 2 separate currencies. When I go to the US, I get US dollars.

As a Canadian who has lived in the U.S. for the past 20 years or so it's not really that simple.

When I lived in Canada and had a trip planned to the U.S. I just went to the bank and asked for some U.S. money.

You do that in the U.S. and they just look at you. Is there a currency other than U.S.?

There's a currency desk at a local tourist mall but they charge a fortune to exchange.

I only real option is the airport (again expensive) or wait until you get there.

The official currency in Canada is the Canadian dollar.

The US dollar is actually *not* official currency here, although some stores will accept it as a courtesy to American tourists, but it is not the norm, nor would I recommend using American dollars.

The Euro is never used in Canada. It's used in Europe, but not in North America. Do not bring Euros, do not bring US dollars. If you're going to pay with cash, bring Canadian dollars.

Franko you're moving here but don't know what currency we use and only want to live amongst Italians? Great to hear - as for money - buy a monopoly game and use that money - or better still, don't come at all.

Most places that accept US dollars will give you change in Canadian dollars.

US $50 and $100 bills will be hard to use, becauswe of worries about counterfeiting.

Because Toronto is so big, people moving here often think it is a good idea to live reasonably close towhere they work.

I helped two big companies move to Toronto, and in both cases our goal was to select office space to rent reasonably close to the main airport, and once the office location was approved, staff moving to the city selected homes near the office.

I think it would be hard to find schools that teach in Italian.

Little Fiats are now being sold in Canada. No many sold so far, but many dealers.

Maseratis and Ferraris available. Lambos for those with no taste. No Alfas and no Lancias.
