To confuse the issue even more ... there's ale vs. lager.<BR><BR>I myself an an ale gal, can't see the point of lager. You're more likely to get a good ale in Canada than in the US, readily available on tap in most restaurants, although it is gaining popularity in the US.<BR><BR>But definitely stick to microbrews if you want beer with flavour. And there are excellent microbrew brands in both countries.<BR><BR>---<BR><BR>p.s. Q: How are making love in a canoe and American beer alike? A: Both are f#cking close to water. ;-)

You are much more likely to find ales in an American bar than a Canadian bar.<BR><BR>What do a can of Labbats and a Canadian dollar have in common?<BR><BR>You can get then both for an American quarter.<BR>

I don't know if this brand is sold all over Canada, but if you cross the border at Fort Erie, Ontario and Buffalo, New York, stop at the duty free shop and pick up some Triple X beer. Strong stuff.
