Canada & Free Speech
I've just read that in Canada you can be fined or jailed for writing or saying "hate speech", whatever that is. Is this true? And if it is, does that mean that Canada has taken a step down the road to fascism or restricted freedom?

Well Roger, if restricting Hate is 'fascism' to you then I think you should recheck your history. Yes, in Canada it is illegal to propagate hatred against an identifiable group. If you feel that's an unacceptable infringement on your freedom then you just stay where you are cause we don't need you here.

So you blokes want travel without any intellectual stimulation. That's how my mother travels. I still don't know why she travels. Barring beach resorts and the like, travel without some sort of intellectual backdrop of where you're going is kind of an empty gesture. If Canada is sliding towards intellectual authoritarianism, I want to know. Are you blokes afraid to know?

There is a difference between freedom of speech and inane babbling, or between freedom of speech and defamatory remarks.
And this one sounds like I would walk away were our black bearded one orating on the local college campus.
Such people do provide entertainment for the students who are idling away between classes. Better than day time TV!!

Wouldn't want to visit that ice-over shit hole of the north. Canada's economy and society is doing so well that all your hockey teams but Montreal and Toronto are looking south. Oh, but you do have socialized medicine and the long hospital lines that such a system causes. Stew in your own mediocrity, Canada.
