Canada flights

I will be in Canada next week and will be taking flights from Vancouver to Calgary, from Calgary to Toronto and from Toronto back to Europe. <BR>How long before scheduled departure time should I be at the airport to clear security etc. for the domestic and international flights? Thanks for any answers.

On the news yesterday, they were saying that you should be at the airport 4 hours prior to your scheduled departure time for international flights. Apparently they got that from interviewing a number of Canadians who have travelled over the last few days. I'm not sure if you need 4 hours for domestic though.

Hi Sjoerd: <BR> <BR>The following is Air Canada's requirements <BR> <BR>"Passengers should arrive no later than two hours prior to their <BR> departure for domestic flights and no later than three hours prior to <BR> their departure for transborder and international flights. The airline <BR> is requesting passengers not to arrive any earlier as currently many <BR> passengers are arriving earlier than these timeframes thereby adding to <BR> the congestion and slowing down the processing of passengers." <BR> <BR>The latter point is apparently quite a problem - I heard on the news yesterday that too many people are arriving too early, contributing to the problem. <BR> <BR>Hope this helps.

I ended up taking the train to Montreal on Sunday afternoon instead of flying Monday AM. Some of my co-workers flew. Some were ok and got to Montreal a little late, but a couple of others were really late and didn't get there until noon. This for a meeting that started at 9 AM. <BR> <BR>I was so glad I took the train!

We travelled from Calgary to Toronto to the US one week after the terrorist attack. We allowed 2 1/2 hours and had plenty of time. If you are transferring in Toronto you must allow a minimum of 1 & 1/2 hours between flights. We had to change flights to meet this commitment. We found the airports well organized with lots of representatives to answer questions. Good luck.

Check your airline website. Schedules are back to normal (though they may be cutting down on flights because of fewer passengers). The recommended arrival times on the Air Canada website (aircanada.ca) are back to 1 hour for domestic, 90 minutes for US, and 3 hours for international.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 10:44 AM.
