Canada Day - Will Niagara Falls Attractions be closed?
I just realized that our two day trip to Niagara Falls includes Canada Day. My first reaction was that this would be great - parades, fairs, etc. But I am wondering whether some attractions might be closed (Butterfly Conservatory, Maid of the Mist, etc) Does anyone know? Thanks, Susan

I am assuming you mean for 2006 since Canada Day is July 1. No everything should be open but you can call ahead and find out. Most tourist spots are open for Canada. The only places you'll have trouble with are liquor and beer store, banks and government offices. I would skip maid of the mist and do the jet boat.

Maybe susan means another Canadian Holiday.
Labor Day is coming up. September 5 to be precise. Victoria Day has already passed until next May 22. |
I am so sorry, I must really need some days off work! I mis-read the dates! We will be in Niagara August 1st; not July 1st. So, never mind!

Actually, the first Monday in August, (August 1st this year), is also a holiday in most provinces including Ontario. But the same conditions prevail as for Canada Day - i.e. the tourist attractions will all be open while shopping Centres and most other stores will be on Holiday hours while banks and govt. offices - including liquor stores in Ontario - will be closed.
The main downside to being there on the Holiday weekend is that the crowds will be much larger than usual. |
