Canada & Alaska, what time of year?

Hi everyone,
We are two Aussie couples just starting to plan our trip to Canada and Alaska, roughly dividing up for 2 weeks in each destination.

Canada would be Vancouver, Vancouver Island and a self drive through Jasper, Banff etc.
For Alaska we are thinking of taking the AMH from Bellingham to Juneau staying for a few days then flying into Anchorage for a week of site seeing which would include Denali.

However before we make any further plans we need to decide on the time of year, do we see Canada first then Alaska or the other way around? We were thinking of last two weeks in Ausgust, first two weeks in Sept but are open to any suggestions. We would really appreciate your guidance. I am also going to post this on the US forum.

Many thanks.

May to September or even October should be okay.

Thank you Morningglory, our plan at this stage is to do the AHM mid August followed by Denali to hopefully see the Fall foliage then Vancouver and lastly Banff etc. I think that would be our best bet.

Both Alaska and the Rockies get colder weeks before it gets cold in Vancouver, so it would be best to visit either Alaska or the Rockies first before visiting Vancouver and Vancouver Island. In any case, you're here during the absolute best time as late August/early September is the warmest, driest time of the year to be visiting here, so I don't think you'll be disappointed even if you did happen to switch that order around.

Thanks for your advice BC_Robyn, sounds like we can't go wrong with that time of year. I think we might move Vancouver and Vancouver Island to our last week before making the long flight back home. That sounds like a good plan.

I appreciate your reply.
