Canada - 1st time
 

we have 1 week vacation in march (last week of march) and want to go somewhere. hubby is thinking canada, preferably the Niagara Falls. Would you provide some recommendations? Itinarary? What to do? Places to eat? We have 2 kids (4 years old and 1). Any suggestions will be greatly appreciate it. Also, how's the temperature that time of the year?

I wouldn’t recommend Niagara Falls at that time of year. It will still be quite chilly, winter jacket type of weather and maybe some snow. The outdoor attractions will not be at their best and some may not be open.

How about Vancouver? Much milder and lots of kid-friendly activities.

There is a large Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara set up for families with an indoor water park... Weather can be chilly and a late snow could be a factor, but it is off season, the Falls is beautiful, and crowds are light...

Note that everywhere in Canada, except the west coast (Vancouver, Victoria) will still be cold and snow covered at that time.

Niagara Falls Ontario is beautiful in the Winter if you are prepared for the weather. It could be bitterly cold and the grounds around the falls will be icy and wind blown. I would wonder if there would be that much of an attraction for a 4 and 1 year old. You don't say where you live so I don't know how used you are to wintery weather. For those of us that live in the snowy cold north, bundling up and seeing the falls with the snow and ice can be lovely and romantic. If your average winter doesn't include snow and freezing temperatures it might not be for you. Most all of the indoor attractions will be open. That would include the oddity museums and arcades that kids like, but again, at 4 and 1, it might not be that much fun for yours. I haven't been to the water park, but it is huge. Of course there is also the casino, not my cup of tea but others like it. Hotels will probably be discounted for the winter, and the US dollar is strong now, so it wouldn't be a costly trip, but you need to consider strongly if there is enough to keep your young children happy for a week.
