I'm not with Virgin, so can only tell you about my phone with Bell Canada. There will be no problem using it, but the roaming charges could be really high.. You should find out how much that is before you go.

You should be able to use it (I live in California and my phone's worked in Canada), but be prepared to pay both roaming charges AND per minute charge.

We just got three new phones -- two Fido and one Telus -- and the paperwork for all three warned us against using photos outside Canada without checking on the rates beforehand.

They'll work, but cost a lot.

I have a Virgin phone for Canada and one for the US. I buy the pay as you go plans but we spend 5-6 mos in the States. However, in the US you can buy a Virgin phone (got mine at Radio Shack) for $7.95. You can get a $20 card so all of that may be cheaper than using your Canadian phone and paying the roaming charges.
