Camping in Niagara Falls

We're planning to head to Niagara Falls and want to camp. I have found a couple campsites that look good and wondered whether anyone had experience with either of them: Jellystone and KOA

Thanks!

Go to the marineland website, they also have a campground which seems less expensive, but equally as nice. I have never been, but have reservations for next weekend

I recommend http://www.infoniagara.com/d-camp-shalamar.html

Now I must digress a little, because just thinking of the Niagara area, especially on a day with weather such as I am experiencing today, makes me want to hop in a car and drive to Niagara with my family and all our bicycles in tow.

There is actually no great camping in the vicinity of the Falls. However, if you are going to spend any time in the area, the Niagra Parkway (biking), Niagra Glen (hiking) and Niagara-on-the-Lake (strolling) are all worth a visit. In fact I recommend you spend the minimum amount of time at the Falls and the majority of time exploring these other three activities. You have to see the Falls once, and maybe even go behind them, but after an hour or at most two, you're done. The city of of Niagra Falls you should avoid completely. Shalamar Lake is located such that you are close to the Falls, but also close to Niagara Glen etc. You really should visit a couple of wineries as well as you cycle down the Niagara Parkway to Niagara on the Lake. We lived in NOTL for a couple of glorious years and trips down the parkway, stopping at wineries and hiking in the Glen are some of my fondest memories. I travelled a lot and it doesn't get much nicer than NOTL and the Niagara Glen.

Thanks! So there is a nice bike road from niagara falls to niagara on the lake? How much KM would that be? Is there wineries on that road or is it a seperate one?

Inniskillin Winery is in NOTL and not far from the Niagara Parkway.

Although Hillebrand Winery is farther from the Parkway, their map provides a little better detail of the immediate area.

I've never biked along the Niagara Parkway but it is a lovely drive.

The bicycle trail is beautiful, paved and flat (except for the Bluff at Queenston) A link describing the trail, including it's total length is http://www.infoniagara.com/attractions/trail.html

At least two wineries are right on the Parkway, Inniskillin, as mentioned previously, and Reif Estates. Many other wineries are within easy cycling distance. However, the more wineries you visit, the more difficult it becomes to cycle :)

I don't have personal experience with camping in Niagara Falls, but I have heard good things about the following campsites:

Shalamar -located quite close to Niagara Falls www.shalamarlake.com

Bissell's - located farther from NF (near Font Hill) but still in Niagara region www.bissellshideaway.com
