Calgary airport to Glacier National Park and Ice Fields Parkway

we will be flying into Calgary for our tent camping adventure in August. We can either first head south to Glacier National Park and then head up north to Ice Fields Parkway and Lake Louise.
Can anyone suggest the best option? We will have 10 full days in our rental car.
thanks

Are you carrying your tent and all your camping gear on the airplane? They might object to a fueled camping stove. Since you are camping, you probably have enough to see in Canada north of Calgary without trying to stretch your trip down to Glacier NP in Montana.
I have stayed several times at the Jasper HI Hostel. They have a real kitchen and real showers with hot water.

It's not the chateau next to Lake Louise, but it beats camping.

Ten days isn't really a lot of time to go to Calgary, Glacier and Jasper/Banff. I'd suggest you stick to the Canadian parks since you're flying into Calgary.

Along with Banff and Jasper, there's Kootenay, Yoho and Glacier (there's a Canadian one in BC) national parks nearby. There's also many provincial parks including Mt. Assiniboine. Between Banff and Calgary is Kananaskis country, a large area which includes a number of provinical parks (e.g. Peter Lougheed).

classic.mapquest.com Glacier is 6 hours to the south via
Cranbrook but RT you are looking at 600 miles 2 full
travels days plus your time at the Park.I have done this
in my RV with more time it was nice but best option for me
camp your way up to Jasper and back so it does not become
more of a road trip.Canadian rockies are the prettiest
with the greenest lakes and rivers simply spectacular.
www.gorp.com good info for hiking etc.. Bears are an issue
actually was chased by one jogging the trails around Lake Louise so do your homework carefully on best precautions
especially back country camping. Have fun!

We did a similar trip years ago by renting a minivan and removing the rear seat for camping. Ten days is a little tight -- two weeks would be better for what you are suggesting. I think it would be hard to miss Glacier, so you do have a tough decision.
