Calgary airport accomodation

In July three of us will be flying into Calgary and visiting the Canadian Rockies, before driving to Edmonton for a Conference. We have an early return flight out of Calgary and would like to find a decent, moderately priced motel/hotel with a reliable shuttle to the airport. We want to return our rental car in the evening, take the shuttle to the motel and get back to the airport on the shuttle before 6:00 AM the next morning. We don't need anything fancy, just a CLEAN room with two beds and maybe a coffee maker. Any suggestions?

I don't know what your budget is but considering your early morning departure time you might consider staying at the Delta Calgary Airport which is attached to the airport terminal. No waiting for a shuttle, just walk over.

There's several in that area that I've used - the Travelodge, Comfort Inn, and Quality Inn. All of them were too noisy with people coming and going at odd times but I'm not sure that's avoidable in an airport hotel. Shuttles were always reliable.

If your travels coincide with Stampede you may have trouble finding a place so I wouldn't leave it too long.

i am doing something similar, i have the hampton inn (which has shuttle service to the airport, the question is does it have it FROM the airport after you drop off rental.) you may have to cab it) the hampton with 2 beds in the room is ~160/night ca. (august 2008)

Thanks for your help. Delta Airport is already full. My departure date does coincide with the Stampede, so I'll probably have to see what is still available.

Try using www.kayak.com for a quick check of available hotels--you can then check and see if they have a shuttle.

We are staying at the Sandman Hotel Calgary Airport for $119US including tax through www.skoosh.com (a UK discount booking agent--I found a recommendation for skoosh on an MSNBC.com article "Ultimate guide to the best travel websites"--so I'm counting on it being legit)The hotel website lists $152 as the best rate. Skoosh allows cancellations up to 24hrs(I think)

Sandman Hotel does have a 24 hr. shuttle. If you book, make sure you book the hotel by the airport. I think there are 3 Sandman hotels.
