Calgary
Just got back from a business trip to Calgary and would just like to tell anyone who is interested in going there to consider it.
I enjoyed the downtown area and the trail at the river. The restaurants (Saltlik Steak House, and Joey Tomatoe's were both excellent. Earl's and Cowboy's were two bars that I enjoyed as well. The shops at 8th Avenue were pretty cool and I enjoyed the layout of the tree lined street. I would recommend two days in the city but you can probably see it in one. |
What a lovely thing to say 9orange9. Very nice of you to take the time to share that.
I live in Edmonton but I have always loved visiting Calgary, it is a very nice city. |
I like Edmonton too! I have been to Calgary more than Edmonton, but that is because of economics -- air fares.
The time I went to Edmonton, we enjoyed the summer festival. Travel Alberta is a great seller of the whole province and the good folks there will fill you in on all the good places to go. Nope. Not Canadian. I live 2500 miles away from there. But Alberta is a great place to go on a vacation trip. The people and the scenery make a visit into a pleasant adventure. |
It was very nice of you to say nice things about Calgary. It is one of my faveorite cities as well.

I am pretty fond of Calgary as well. I moved here about 10 years ago.
A great time to come is in July when our annual Calgary Stampede is on (calgarystampede.com). Our whole city gets into it, from free pancake breakfasts all over the city to a chuckwagon races on the stamped grounds. The mountains are only 45 minutes away with great skiing in the winter and beautiful hiking trails in the summer. Anyways, that is my plug for my inherited hometown. |
