Bug Spray in the Rockies?

I'm getting stuff in piles to pack. It dawned on me that I hadn't thought about insect repellant. I remember reading on someone's Trip Report about them "getting swarmed" with big black flies. (I hope I didn't dream that up!)

Suggestions about what to pack, or what to buy when we get to Calgary? Or is anything needed? Chiggers eat me alive; also no-see-ums, but don't know what to prepare for in the Rockies.

We just got back on Monday...without one bug bite. Didn't see one mosquito and the bees were not aggressive (they didn't bother us while we ate outside). Pleasantly surprised!

Thank goodness, Black fly season is over. One of the bonuses of travelling in Sept!
If you need anything at all, I'd get one of the OFF products.

Great! Thanks for those nice replies Good to have good news.

Mominburbs,
Loved your Trip Report! Cut and pasted the parts tht applied to our trip!

Kodi,
Off is is. (Do you have a pet named Kodi? - if that's your nickname, no offense intended but several years ago I was writing email to a Kodi in Canada, and just wondered if you were the same one!)

Brahmama.....I'm one and the same! I DO remember you too. And we both got so darn busy planning trips.
Aren't you coming to the Toronto area around Christmas?

Have a great time in the Rockies.

Hi Kodi!
Great to make this connection again!

We are about ready to walk out the door - will be home around the 20th and then I have to start planning in earnest for our December Trip. Yes, we're flying to Toronto first and staying 3 nights. Then on to Ottawa & Montreal and flying home. It's my birthday trip - one of those BIG O's!

I'll be on the boards when I get home. Keep safe.

Carol, Have a great time and I'll watch for you on the boards when you return.

Kodi ( Just curious, but did my name not 'click' when you were planning your winter trip? I answered some questions there... maybe it was what I call slow recall that seems to affect seniors!!!!
anyway, Have a great time.

Hi Kodi,
We're back and what an awesome trip. I'm going to put together some info and do a trip report so that maybe someone else can be helped.

I did remember your name - way back there! On 6/25/05 there was a thread where I asked you if you weren't the same Kodi! You didn't answer, so I imagine you never read the last reply. It was bothering me - so I looked it up. It's something about Canadian Trains. Even back then I was planning the Canada trips.
But I think we emailed way before THAT - about England I think?

Anyway, we're home, tired but happy and I'll be on the boards with my little bit to offer.

Bramama, I'm glad you had a good trip. Yes I DO remember. IT was way back when you where looking for a place to stay in London before your cruise. Is that right? Is my memory really that good? I think at that time, you owed something like 60 emails and you were so busy getting ready for your trip.
Glad to be in touch again.

You are exactly right! And you had a great recommendation for London which I looked up. But we ended up not staying there. Anyway, I have your email and will send you a note.
Carol
