Budget Hotel?BB Regina Sask.
I am taking my grandson on a summer vacation to Moose Jaw and Regina and hope someone can recommend a family type hotel in a central location which we can use as a base. Also any attraction that would interest a 12 yr. old . Thanks for any help.

Hm... Since no one has replied, I'll give it a shot.
Regina is a pretty small city. You can drive from one end to the other in 15 minutes. So, basically all hotels are pretty "centrally located". I have stayed at the Delta Regina(modern highrise), and the historic Radisson Saskatchewan Regina. Both are pretty nice - not budget hotels, and not family types, but they are pretty cheap in US standards. I just figure, why not stay at the better hotels for not much more than a motel in the US. In Moose Jaw, I didn't even think of any place other than the Temple Gardens Spa. Right in the city center, with a large mineral pool available for guests, again for a price of a motel in the US. As for attractions for a 12yr old, the RCMP grounds and museum in Regina, the Snowbirds and tunnels in Moose Jaw. And you can consider an overnight trip to Saskatoon. |
Thanks for your information. I was also wondering if there might be some guided day tours that we could take . If anyone could supply me with the name of a tour company I could call that would be appreciated.

I doubt you'll find any guided tour of Regina or Moose Jaw. Those are very small cities, so really nothing to be "guided" for. Just rent a car and drive to the attractions yourself.

Thanks again for your reply. I am now thinking that I may return to my original plan and go to Calgary. I have been to that city before and I know they have tours etc. I am trying to encourage my grandson to explore Canada and he suggested Sask.

fun_4_us_2 - I was thinking about asking you why Regina and Moose Jaw. :D Those are indeed very small cities, and aren't really vacation destinations. You'll find a lot more stuff to do and visit in Calgary.
I'm not saying you shouldn't go to Regina and Moose Jaw. I stayed in Regina for over a month, and found it a small decent place to live (well I didn't go in the winter! :D ) Good cheap hotels as I said in my first response, and I also enjoyed the day trips to Saskatoon. But there just isn't that much to see and do. |
