Brwster's Shadow Lake Lodge near Lake Louise

I am considering this lodge for a group visit in August 2010.

If you have some personal knowledge about the resort, I have a few questions:
a.how's the food?
b. would you describe the hike in as strenuous, moderate or easy?
c. did you find the showers, etc reasonably good and comfortable?
d. anything special about your visit?

Thanks very much.

Some information about the hike in has been posted in this thread at TripAdvisor:

thank you, krp329. I have read that thread and checked the map, but one of my friends is still a little concerned about doing the hike.

Well, it is 14 km (9 miles) and with about 1500 feet of elevation gain, so if your friend is not at least moderately fit, he/she will find it difficult and will be sore for a day or two afterward - and then there is the hike out to look forward to. Downhill hiking is much easier aerobically, but much harder on muscles and joints.

Also, fire road hiking tends not to be terribly inspiring - usually mile after mile through the forest with limited or no views, but I have never hiked into Shadow Lake, so don't know if this one is that way.

We have convinced her to give it a shot. I'll report back after my stay. It looks great to me.
