Breakfast in Toronto-Where?

Staying in the Intercontinental on Bloor Street 14-17 April '05. Would like recommendations for a nice place (besides in the hotel) to have breakfast or brunch. Doesn't have to be very formal or pretentious but does have to have good food. Am not looking for anything "ethnic" for breakfast, folks, like sushi or pizza (LOL).

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but meant to add that I've already done a search and read, in particular, the thread entitled, "Great Toronto Breakfast Spots" and just wondering in anyone had newer or "better" recommendations.

Thanks again.

You can't have breakfast in that neighborhood, sort of.

There's a thread where I write about breakfast on Yonge Street, for a guest at the Courtyard Marriott.

But there are no similar places near that Intercontinetal.

Which means we'll have to come up with dis-similar places. You can eat breakfast on the main floor of whatever the former Journey's Hotel, a block west of the Intercontinental, is called. (Maybe Comfort Hotel; someone will chime in here with the current name.

There's a collection of greasy spoons further west of that, on Bloor near Spadina.

McDonalds, of course, offer pretty good Egg McMuffins, if that's fancy enough for you. A block from the hotel.

More, later.

I'm willing to ride the subway!!!!! if that helps.

Walk west on Bloor past Spadina to Walmer Road, south on Walmer to Harbord and check out a few restaurants on Harbord, including Boulevard Cafe (Portugese-influenced), Messis, Kensington Kitchen, etc. My favourite is the Boulevard.

Over Easy at 208 Bloor W. is a few steps from your hotel. Good, traditional breakfasts, eggs, waffles.
Hart House on the University of Toronto campus puts on a good Sunday brunch. Easy walking distance, just south of your hotel.

For breakfast, take the subway to dundas station at Eaton Centre.
Exit on Yonge Street and walk south
on the west side to eggspectations.
