Bonaparte or Aix Cuisine in Montreal

Has anyone dined at either of these two restaurants recently? How was the food/atomsphere? Thanks!

I loved the food at Bonaparte. The atmoosphere was fine, but not terribly romantic.

I also really enjoyed dinner at Bonaparte but I agree, it is not really "romantic"..more formal, quiet, good food, good service.

I dined at Bonaparte during the Christmas Holiday.

Like Scarlette said it was more formal, quiet, and good service.

It's just okay. I guess it depends on what you are looking for?

And what is Aix Cuisine, French too?

I've never been to Aix but I pass it on my way to work,
it says: cuisine du terroir, which to me would mean rural so it would not be typically refined classic french, more earthy and countryish. Has anyone tried it ?

Well I looked up Aix at the restomontreal.ca website
( excellent search engine btw) and it says this:

"Aix Cuisine du Terroir offers to its guests savory dishes made from products originating exclusively in Quebec, New-Brunswick, and the Atlantic provinces.

Among the chef's specialties: Quail stuffed, foie gras, pear, lentil ragout, seasonal vegetables, Venison tartar, green salad and home fried potatoes, Fillet of cod in a fine herb crust, sautéed wild mushrooms, vegetables, Jerusalem artichokes, brown butter flavoured, lemon, Grilled bison strip loin, caramelized shallots, sautéed vegetables, red wine sauce with choice of side dish..."

Recently returned from Montreal and we loved Bonaparte for it's traditional French food and good service-the window tables were somewhat romantic too! I saw Aix but we didn't make it there. We were extremely disappointed with Cube-my fish was very fishy tasting! Staff at all of the restaurants were great though.
