Bicycling in SW Ontario

Recently retired couple living in SW Ontario. Want to do some gentle biking on paths that are pretty flat - we're novices! Willing to haul our bikes an hour or so radius from London if there are nice paths. Any suggestions?

The Lambton County trail system goes from grand bend to Sombra. It follows Lake Huron and the st. Clair River. It is very beautiful. Here is a link

Also there is a shared trail system in Elgin County the goes out to Port Stanley. Here is a link http://www.elgintourist.com/cgi-bin/...&s=cycling I have never been on the elgin County one, but neither ar far from London.

There are some great little towns in SW Ontario near London that will give you lots of opportunity for cycling. St. Mary's, Stratford, Port Stanley and St. Jacob's are all reasonably close.

Niagara would be an overnight though it is a wonderful area for biking along the Niagara Parkway.

Have a look at this site for some ideas:

Hope that helps.

We recently retired to Meaford...near Owen Sound....Meaford has the Georgian Trail running right through town and on to Thornbury & Collingwood...nice cycling as it is the old railway line...also,Meaford itself is a great small town right on the water...well worth a visit...www.meaford.com/town/phototour.htm - hope this helps
