I don't have any experience with either hotel so can only comment on location.
One is on Drummond just below Ste. Catherine
The other is on Peel near Sherbrooke
Really, they're both "equivalently located" to my eyes. Central in downtown Montreal. Near a lot of food courts, shopping, McGill University (Peel/Sherbrooke slightly better for this and walking up the mountain), both within easy walking distance of Peel Metro for seeing areas further afield.
In truth, the "downtown area" is not my favorite part of Montreal as I find the Mile End, McGill Ghetto, and Plateau neighbourhoods more charming, but I will grant that it's not a bad location: central, well-served as a result by transit and many tourists seem to appreciate for its hustle & bustle, shopping and proximity to Crescent Street nightlife.
Enjoy; my thought is between those two ultimately it really makes little difference as far as location is concerned.
