Best ferry choices

We are flying into Vancouver and going the next day to Victoria. What is the best ferry option?

A week later we're leaving the Nanoose area and driving to Banff. Do we take the same ferry off Vancouver Island or would another one be better?

Thanks,

Sheila

If you're wanting to get to Victoria you should take the Tswassen to Schwartz Bay ferry. You would then have to drive up to Nanoose Bay. If you want a more direct route to Nanoose Bay, you should take the Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (Nanaimo).

Thanks for the info. I booked from Vancouver to Victoria this afternoon. I need to think a little more about the timing on the return trip to make sure we can make our reservations without starting our drive east too late in the day.

Coming back you should take the ferry from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay, which will connect you with Rt. 1 heading east.

You could also take the ferry from the Duke Point terminal in Nanaimo to Tsawassen and then go over to Hwy 1, this would save you from driving through Vancouver.
