Best 2 day trips from Toronto?

Hi,

Any tips on a good 2-day (1-2 nights) trip originating from Toronto?
We (2 adults in 30s) are in the area in early July and would like to tour some nice places by car.Nature, cultural stuff and good food all are appreciated...

Have visited the Niagara area, so that may not be the big interest point this time around...anything fun to see up north, north-east/west?

Thanks,
LL
Toronto to Prince Edward County (sort of an island in Lake Ontario opposite Belleville) and then on to Kingston for dinner and the night.

Next day to Fort Henrry on theoutskirts of Kingston, then to Gananoque, take a Thousand Islands Boat tour, and return to Toronto.

Or go to Ottawa.

If I knew any stores where you could buy my book, I'd tell you to get it and plan trips around it.

Anyway, without buying the book: Toronto to Stratford, St. Marys and on to Goderich, and back.

Toronto to Paris and London and back, including (honest, it's a great place even without kids) African Lion Safari.

Toronto to Picton to Merrickville to Smiths Falls to Perth to Toronto.

BAK

I vote for Prince Edward County. That part of Ontario is lovely. Much nicer than 'cottage country' in my books.

Prince Edward County -- Quinte's Isle is a lovely driving area -- leave the 401 at Trenton and stay on Hwy 33. Wellington, Bloomington both have lovely B & B's for overnight, antique shops , interesting galleries etc. You could continue along #33 and take the Glenora ferry at Picton all the way through Kingston.

I highly recommend the Gananoque Inn for overnight , for dinner and a play at the 1000 Islands Playhouse, just down the street. I'd also take the Gananoque Boat Lines for the 1000 Islands tour -- a little more comprehensive and the dock is just across the bridge from the inn. Have your Birth Certificate and a little American cash and get off at Boldt Castle -- wonderful to see what they've done with the renovations. If you want some websites to explore, let me know. We just did a return to the area a couple of weeks ago, so I still have sites bookmarked.
