BC Ferries Experience Card
I would like to drive my car from Seattle to Quadra Island and back. Someone told me that I can save some money by buying BC Ferries Experience card. What is the best route from the Seattle area in order to pay the least amount fare for my trip. I think I must first go to tsawwassen. I think there are many routes that do not honor the card.
My plan was from Tsawwassen to Nanaimo then Campbell River to Quadra Island. |
I am asking if there is a low cost way of going to Vancouver Island from Washington State. BC Ferries Experience Card, it appears, cannot be used for Tsawwassen to Duke Point route.
Also, is it possible to get refund for unused portion of the money loaded to the card? For a infrequent visitor to V.I., is the card recommended? |
You might want to also post on the US forum -- I know you are really asking about B.C. but there are several Seattle-ites who post on the US board and it is a much more active forum.

Thank you, janisj. I will try the US forum.
I think my question boils down to: Can I get a refund on the unused portion of the BC Ferries Experience Card (without penalty). I may save a few dollars by using it, but if I can't get a refund, it won't help me because I am not a frequent user of BC Ferries. |
I do not believe you can get a refund. However, here is the site to go for clarity, and information on how to contact them:

No you can't get a refund. You must put on around $115 I think. You can use it on any BC ferry route but won't get a discount on the Vancouver to Vancouver island route.
If you put the minimum on the card and use it for the Campbell river to quadra portion and then return to the mainland. The discount will only apply to the quadra/Campbell river portion |
