Banff with Baby

Help! we had planned on going to Banff for our 10th anniv., but we now have a baby who will be 11months at the time of the trip. Is it insane to take the baby? Are there hotels/resorts that offer childcare? Is such an outdoor community baby friendly? I'll take any and all ideas.
Thanks.

Have used a baby sitting service in Banff that most hotels should have access to and can arrange the service right in your room. Not cheap, about $16.00 CAD per hour, half to the sitter half to the service. Is this the place for an 11 month old , only you can answer that. Depends on what you wnat to do and how active you are, hiking, or just in the car seeing the sights. Lots of easy hikes around the area if you want to carry the baby in a pack and go. Lots of view points to see from the car or very short walks to see the sights. Good Luck

My 23 year old used to be a one year old and a two year old in Bannf three weekends out of four.
Banff hasn't changed all that much since then (mountains are still in the same spot)and the kid turned into an opera singer, so be forewarned.
Get yourself a good kid-carrier style backpack, and you can enjoy lots of fairly easy hiking. Banff is full of nice people, so the kid should be welcomed. And it's a casual town, so don't worry too much about looking sophisticated.
BAK

Don't be afraid, you will not be the only one there. Some of the more gruelling hikes will be out for you but there is much you can do. Don't forget the gear you will need. eg. sweaters and rainjackets for you and sweater and rain poncho for the carrier and water and food for all. So the person carrying the daypack will be carrying as much as the person with the child.
