Banff Weather in April

I'm traveling to Banff April 21-25 and wanted to know what the weather will be like? I've been to Banff twice befroe but both times in the summer and wanted to know what areas would be best to go see this time of year? I would like to show my husband Maligne/Moraine/Peyto and Lake Louis and the Icefields. Any other suggestions? Are alot of roads going to be closed this time of year? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Spring skiing at Sunshine and Lake Louise will be great, but I don't think you'll find many roads open beyond the highways.

I'm sure that you will get a detailed reply from Judy.

Moraine Lake road is often closed during spring due to avalanche risk (weather dependent). Road will reopen Open late May to early October.

Is April really a bad time to go then? I thought we'd be able to see alot but am second guessing our choice to travel to Banff now?? I wanted to show my husband the beauty of Banff and all the lakes/waterfalls and nature but if everythings frozen over we wont get to see much???

We where at the Chateau Lake Louise in the middle of March, the town of Banff had little snow but the ski hill had skiing.
Lake Louise is at a higher altitude and the beauty of it was wonderful. We had great skiing, I walked to the end of lake and hiked up to see the glacier and frozen waterfall. There is beauty there in every season. The Shanuks (?) the warm weather comes in fast. It depends on what you want to do. The hot springs in Banff are great, dog sledding near lake Louise are fun. Check out the Lake Louise website and you can see recent pictures of the mountain. There are some great restaurants. I would go any time of the year.

We were at Lake Louise in mid May several years ago and the lake was still frozen over. Couldn't see Peyto Lake since the viewing area was still snowed in (would guess the lake was still frozen too). Emerald Lake in Yoho is at a lower elevation and had thawed by then.

Thanks for the help. Actually I have changed my trip to May 23-28th now so am hoping it will be alittle nicer by then. Will Peyto Lake/Moraine/Lake Louis have melted by then or is it still going to be frozen? I've been to Peyto in July and its amazing and am hoping by end of May its just as nice.
