Banff or Lake Louise?

We are driving from the Calgary airport early in June of 2000 and only have 3 nites. Should we stay in Banff, and spend a day at Lake Louise, or should we book a hotel at Lake Louise for the whole 3 nites?

Thanks for your help.

I would make banff home base and take a day trip to L. Louise.

It is not a ling drive and is beautiful

I would make Banff my base and visit Lake Louise as a day trip.

Suggest you run a search under the heading "Banff" and see what some other recent posters said about accomodations. To sum it up, there are more accomodations in Banff than Lake Louise. I would stay in Banff and make it my base.

Hi Neli:

I agree with all the above posters. Here's the advantage to staying in Banff:

1. Closer to Calgary in terms of travel time
2. More choices in accommodation, shops and restaurants.
3. Take the scenic 1A Bow Valley Highway from Banff to Lake Louise. Spend a day at Lake Louise and make sure you visit Moraine Lake on the way.
4. There is no actual town at Lake Louise, just a village.
You will have an absolutely fabulous time!
