I don't think Newfoundland is as common a destination as some others.
Although I use these forums for lots of information, for lodging I usually check TripAdvisor or Booking.com, unless I happen to get a tip from reading a trip report.
I'll be in Newfoundland in July, so have no suggestions as of yet.

I’ve been to Newfoundland a couple of times but the first time on a fly/drive package in which the accommodation was booked for us, and the second time we were camping. We didn’t linger in Gander either time. So sorry, can’t help, but welcome to Fodor’s anyway.

When I was in Gander, I stayed on the airplane and in the airport! We weren't able to land in St. John's because of the fog, and had to land in Gander. I'd just read the book about everyone landing in Gander on 911, The Day the World Came to Town (or something like that), and it was really interesting! How strange to be stuck there myself! Anyway, this doesn't answer your question at all. I'm just rambling!
