Banff in May

I am getting married in May 2000 and am considering a weeklong honeymoon in the Banff-Lake Louise region. Will weather or renovations to the CP hotels make it difficult to enjoy this area? Would anyone recommend Wyoming or the American Rockies instead for that time period?

Banff is full of hotels and motels.
I don't see any problem in finding an expensive one that offers upscale services.
Wyoming? Where? Perhaps one of the lodges in the Tetons??
May is such a month of transistion that early May and late May are different periods of time. But in the Rockies, even June is still spring. Trails at upper elevations are still snowed in.
Ice goes off the high lakes late June or early July depending on the severity of the weather.

John,

We just arrived home from our New Years break in Banff, staying at Banff Springs. While there was renovations going on at the time they were no problem at all, in fact there is so much beautiful scenery to disract you that you may not even notice the renovations unless they are pointed out to you! I would thoroughly recommend Banff Springs, the staff were so friendly (but I think that must be true of all Canadians!) and the hotel itself is very grand but still comfortable. Make sure you spend a day in the hotel's European style Spa, after 4 days punishing snow-boarding it was HEAVEN!

I have never been to Chateau Lake Louise but have been told the rooms are even nicer than the ones at Banff Springs.
The Banff Springs is nice and the renovations are on the exterior so it doesn't affect inside. If you want something really romantic the Post Hotel in Lake Louise is very nice. In May you are most likely to see wildlife (bears are most common during May). Why not check out my Banff link at:
http://www.telusplanet.net/public/al...ravelpage.html
