Banf weather question

We leave for Calgary/Banff tomorrow and the 10 day forecast shows just showers every day that we're there. What is that typically like for that area? Is it usually raining all day or will we still be able to do some hiking and sightseeing without being completely drenched?

stephf54 - Please tell me where you are flying or travelling from? Are you in the UK or USA?
I know that's not an answer to your question and I have no idea of the answer but am curious to find out why you would be going into Calgary instead of Edmonton?

Maybe because Banff is closer to Calgary?
Why would someone go to Edmonton over Calgary?

Showers will probably mean on and off showers... although there are times when the mountains get socked in and it drizzles all day. It's really hard to say what you'll be in for steph. Sorry!

Because it takes about 4 times as long to get to Banff from Edmonton than it does from Calgary.

Thanks! I re-checked the map. We may be going into the National Park from Lacombe so I got a little confused.
Stephf54 must be there by now and I sincerely hope the weather is fantastic!

Well I was there and back. What a fabulous trip! It was all I expected and more. I will post a trip report soon. Weather cooperated for the most part.
