B&B Near Stanley Park or Trout Lake

We are going to attend an event at Trout Lake and are looking for anything other than a crowded hotel to stay in for one night. Any B&B, private rental suggestions? Trout Lake is considered "east" Vancouver, correct?
Thanks for any and all help!

The title of your message asks for accommodations near Stanley Park or Trout Lake. For Stanley Park I'd suggest either the Sylvia Hotel or the Buchan Hotel. (The Buchan is probably slightly less expensive because it doesn't have a sea view and some rooms have shared WCs.)

As for Trout Lake...I'll have to leave it to other posters to suggest accommodations there. I don't know that part of town too well. Yes, it's in the eastern part of Vancouver, a few blocks south of East Broadway, near Victoria Drive.

If it were me I don't think I'd stay by Trout Lake. People might jump on me for saying this but I've been to the community centre there and to my mind it really isn't a very nice area. But other posters may know it better; maybe I've seen only the bad part and there's a good part too.

I can second the recommendation for the Sylvia and also suggest Rosellen Suites in the West End.

I believe there are also some B&B spots close to City Hall, if you don't want to be downtown.

While East Van has little to recommend it to visitors it's not unsafe at all-just a bit drear and worn with tiny lots and older homes.

It's possible that you'll be able to book just one night as opposed to the 'two night minimum' required by so many West Side operations.

check out www.aberdeenmansion.com
it's in the commercial drive neighbourhood and about a 15-20 minute walk to trout lake (or a 5-7 minute bus ride...the walk is nicer tho').
