B&B lodging in Halifax

Traveling to Maine to visit relatives and are "adding on" a trip to Nova Scotia this year. Looking for reasonably priced lodging in Halifax for our October trip. Can anyone recommend a good B&B? Not finding alot of B&B's online. Should we consider staying outside of the city? Is Dartmouth a good location for lodging? Thanks for your input!!!

I would not recommend staying in Dartmouth - out of the way, not much going on, need to cross toll bridges to get to Halifax, etc. However, if you do decide to stay there, I stayed at the Autumn Leaves B&B a few years ago, and the hostess, Audrey, is wonderful, and good locale.

Downtown Halifax is quite compact and it is very easy to get to all the tourist sites, good restaurants, etc. by foot.

I haven't stayed at this one, but my sister was here 2 summers ago and she (& family) enjoyed their stay at Stevens Hall B&B on Tower Road.

Here are links with lots of B&B listings:

Also, if you haven't done so already, get the Doers & Dreamers NS tour guide - it's a great resource, well laid out. You can order it on-line (free) from the NS tourism association.

Enjoy-la!

Thanks for the great B&B website Klam chowder! Have sent out a half dozen e-mails already and are glad to have the info on Dartmouth location.
Also have contacted the Waverly Inn ltt.
Will get back to everyone after our trip to add our experiences with Nova Scotia B&B's!

I would agree with the Waverly Inn, very nice place, right downtown as well. I think you would be very happy with it

I have stayed at the Waverly Inn and loved it...There is a restaurant down the street...can't remember the name...very laid back with delicious food....went back the second night because it was so good...not fancy like stews and hardy but delicious...We walked alot and everything seemed close by.
