Auberge du Vieux Port

First time visitors to Montreal. We have reservations at Auberge du Vieux Port. Am interested in hearing from anyone who has recently stayed here.
Thanks!

I haven't stayed at the actual hotel, but the surrounding area is very nice! THe old town has a number of cafes/shops and is easy access to other sites, just hop on the metro, or if its sunny you can walk!
Enjoy.

I used to live in Montereal on the weekends. If I was going back to visit, accompanied by my wife, I'd stay at the Auberge du Vieux Port. Last year a friend and his wife stayed there, and found it romantic, comfortable, well located, historiacal, etc. And there's a good restaurant next to the hotel, and the neighborhood is full of excellent places, too.
BAK

Heather and Mike,
Thanks for both your responses. Feeling more confident regarding our stay at Auberge. Have recently received their literature, and indeed the property looks very attractive.
I appreciate your replies.
Elaine

How ironic. This is the first time I explored this forum in Canada. My husband and I did stay at that wonderful hotel last June. The room was fantastic; great views; the restaurant was wonderful. The chef is from the south of France (the town of Beausolieu)excuse my spelling. They have a GREAT rooftop bar.

Mary,

So happy to read from someone who 'has stayed'. We will be staying here early July for 3 nights. Was a bit apprehensive, as I selected this Auberge for my husband and I plus another couple. We're flying in from the US for a long weekend. Am considering the rooftop fixe price dinner to celebrate our friends wedding anniversary. You mentioned you also dined there...would so appreciate your opinion.
Thanks for posting!

We did not have dinner on the rooftop; we did, however, do happy hour there. We ate in the downstairs restaurant. The meal was very good. While chatting with the waiter, we mentioned we had recently been in the south of France, and a few minutes later the chef came out and talked with us. That was a treat. Have a good trip.
