Areas to avoid in Vancouver

Can anyone tell me if the Patricia Inn in Vancouver is a safe hotel and what the area is like? It is on Hastings Street. We are having trouble getting a hotel because of the soccer tourney and so far this is the only place that has room? Please, any info would be helpful.

No, don't stay there! It's in a very tough part of town with no nearby amenities.
The rooms are probably fine but the surrounds are dismal.

Have you tried anywhere in North Vancouver or Burnaby? If the hotel is within reach of the skytrain/seabus you won't have difficulty getting to the core. Even
Richmond is doable.

Here is a link to skytrain map. You can see what immimi is talking about - check out the surrounding areas even New Westminster, Richmond etc. It is very fast and they run often.

Just google 'Skytrain - Translink' and you'll get a map of the system.

I'd try for Richmond - quite a few hotels in the airport area # 3 Roadwith easy
access to the venue. Problem is there is a huge convention plus cruise season so most of the hotels are long-booked.

Good luck! You may end up in Bellingham, Wash.! Hopefully not.

Thanks. We might end up in Burnaby instead. There are just no hotels available.
