Anyone used Vacation Food services for stocking up at Big White?
We are staying self contained at Big White in January. Vacation food services was recommended to me as a way of stocking the apartment as we get there fairly late and apparently the local mini mart is a bit expensive. Any experience?

I don't know how much you eat and for how many people you plan, but from my expierences the type of store does not make a big difference for the budget for a few skiing days. I guess, that you can only generate a few cents of savings and it is not worth to do so.

I don't know the shop at Big white, but if it is like those at other ski resorts, the prices will be higher than in town, but set at a level which will make you think twice about going into town for your supplies. You have to judge whether the convenience and limited range of products are worth the bother of shopping elsewhere.

With these guys you pre order on the net and they deliver and stock your fridge and cupboards before you get there !!! As we arrive late in the day I thought it would be a good idea, but if the prices are too steep..NO !

I took a quick lood at Vacation foods website. While their prices are higher than the grocery stores, they are not outrageous. The convenience of having it all there might be worth it. I do not know the company personally, but they are local. Here are a couple of links to grocery stores in Kelowna. you can check the weekly flyers, and compare for yourself. These are stores in Kelowna. www.saveonfoods.com www.marketplaceiga.com www.coopersfoods.com |
Thanks Lynette, nice to get a local perspective !
