I don't want to discourage you, but getting from the Syracuse airport to Queens at Kingston by bus or train might be possible with some ingenuity, and a lot of time, patience and expense ... not unlike a sequel to the movie Trains, Planes and Automobiles. Completing this trek in one day, would be unlikely. Where is his point of departure? Flying into Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal would give him access to a connector flight to Kingston. There may still be regional flights to the Kingston airport direct from Syracuse.. I would check with Delta, AA, and Air Canada.

Actually Greyhound goes direct to Kingston, even Kingston queens Univeristy if that is where the kid is going to school. With the train it is a one night layover in Toronto and then a train ride to Kingston. an alternative is Schenectady or Albany to Montreal via train and then Montreal to Kingston.

Paul, help us out here. I went to the Greyhound site via the link you gave and can find no direct buses. All they show are connexions via Toronto, taking between 9 and 10 hours and involving travel of 439 miles.

My mistake! I didn't dig down far enough into the schedule. You are correct there are no direct routes from Syracuse to Kingston via Greyhound or Train.

My point exactly! However there is good train service from both TO and Montreal, but again you have to transfer from airport to train station, which in both cases is a distance from the airport and transit costs can be expensive, add on a possible layover to accommodate schedules etc and it gets pricey, time-consuming and difficult if he's toting all his gear. I still think your best bet is to look into direct flights to TO plus a short connector jaunt to Kingston. Often student rates are offered this time of year. If it's Queen's he's attending they may have advice to offer too.
