Any sights worth seeing b/w the drive Toronto~Montreal~Quebec City?

Hello everyone! I come here before every trip for travel advices, and this Canadian trip will be no exception. Thanks in advance!

I'll be doing a road trip to Quebec City and Montreal for 5 days/4 nights in July, departing from Toronto. My boyfriend and I are both in our late 20s, and his parents who are in their late 50s will be accompanying us. All of us have visited QC and Montreal before. We all like the wilderness, natural sceneries, architectures and good food.

July 13 - drive Toronto~QC, overnight QC
July 14 - QC, Montmorency Falls, Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, and Canyon Saint Anne
July 15 - drive to Montreal, overnight in Montreal
July 16 - overnight in Montreal
July 17 - drive back to Toronto

Questions:
1) Are there any sights worth stopping for our drive between Toronto and Quebec City and Quebec City and Montreal?

We've been to Thousand Island and Kingston many times and not interested in going back.

2) What is the fastest driving routes for both directions?

Many many thanks in advance!!!

You might like to side-track slightly and stop for lunch in either Cobourg, with its lovely beach and nice harbour, or Port Hope, with its 19th century streetscape and interesting old houses. Both are about 4 hours from Montreal. There really is no other way to make the journey in the one day you have alloted.

I just want to chime in with the idea of taking the slower path from, say, Trois Rivieres to QC.

I am speaking of Hwy #138 instead of Freeway #40 on the north side of the St. Lawrence.

The little towns along the way were neat places and most of them had impressive churches which seemed far more elegant than such a small place might rate. I'm not even religious but I was still impressed.

Thanks very much for your reply. I'll definitely look into visiting at least one of the mentioned smaller towns for lunch.

Just in case we are press for time and needs to catch up (I do tend to drive pretty slow), can someone please advise the QUICKEST driving routes/directions for:

1) Toronto to Quebec City
2) Quebec City to Montreal
3) Montreal to Toronto

Thanks again!!

It's a long drive from Toronto to Quebec City. How late you want to drive into the evening influences how long you can stop along the way.

I've left Montreal or Toronto around 5-6 pm many times and driven to Toronto or Montreal, but as tourists with two generations in the car, departure time may be later than you plan.

The easy treat on the way is to go off the 401 just east on Kingston and take the Thousand Islands Parkway for a while. I curves back onto the 401 after a whiule, but in the meantime you've enjoyed driving beside the river.
