airline ticket prices

Just curious if anyone has purchased tickets to Calgary from the east coast for June travel yet. I have been keeping an eye on prices and the cheapest that I have found (travel from North Carolina) into Calgary is $568 pp. I am trying to decide whether to buy or wait....has anyone found any prices cheaper? Thanks!

When in June?

From Charlotte?

For how many nights?

If you haven't already found them, Fare Compare may be of some help:

Want to leave June 15 for two weeks..Kathy

Assuming departure point is Charlotte, I found U$$488 (US$523 with taxes) on United. No meals included.

January usually is a cheap month in which to buy air tickets (cheap being a relative term, of course). If you hold off, there's a chance you could still luck out and get something cheaper during a seat sale. However, I think there's a greater risk that fares will just keep on climbing from here on in.

Waiting for a seat sale works well when you don't care when you fly. When my son was living in Vancouver last year, he came back to Calgary on the occasional (ridiculously cheap) Westjet flight. But he was willing to fly any weekend that such a fare became available, and when he saw it he pounced on it.

You, on the other hand, have a lot of other things riding on those flights. Presumably you've had to book vacation from your job, you're lining up a rental car and hotels and so on. You're in a different position from the position that my son was in. If I was in your shoes, I'd want to secure my flights. I'd want to get a decent fare, but I wouldn't want to risk losing out on other aspects of the trip while I waited for an absolutely rock bottom fare.

Wait untill after the new passport rules come into effect, there will be lots of deals in the spring....er

Thanks, everyone. I bought them today. Went with Delta (501 before all those taxes) for schedule. I paid $418 that time last year to fly to Italy! Crazy...thanks I am looking forward to this trip. Kathy

If it's any consolation, I've been looking for fares to Italy for some time, and can't seem to get less than $1300.

rickandpat: Hang in there for those fares to Italy; I knew that I wanted to fly on Luthansa (schedule) so I checked multiple times a day. One day I happeded to fares for $418pp (not including taxes) so I jumped on them. Friends traveling with us did not know how to purchase tickets online and they lost the rate...they ended up paying $1200 per ticket. I do love Europe! Kathy
