want to stay for about 10 days this summer in vancouver...would like something not more than $150 a night and want to be in a safe area close to sky train somewhere....I know about the hyatt but its a little more than $150 a night...would appreciate help..thanks

There is the Executive Inn on Lougheed that you alluded to in your last post - if you want to stay in that area again. Also around Metrotown there is a cluster of Hotels from Holiday Inn to Hilton. If you want to stay in the downtown area there is a cluster of midrange hotels around the BC Place Stadium & General Motors place which are within easy walking distance of the Stadium Station. Summer rates of $150 are tough to find for mid range and up downtown but if you're willing to go the priceline or equivilant crapshoot than you could get a price less than $100CA.

thanks gary....reason I was asking for this was because the info you gave me previously, I contacted the people and they said exec. accomodations is no longer in business and I have no way of knowing if and who handles the condo complex in the shopping center...for all I know they may not even be available for vacation rentals anymore....but what do you know about the holiday inn at metrotown???? thanks

The Holiday Inn at Metrotown is a three diamond fully equipped hotel that's physically connected to Metrotown and therefore to the Skytrain Station. You should be able to swing a nice room there for under $150CA. The web site is www.holiday-inn.com/yvr-burnaby.

thanks Gary...I guess I should have been a little bit more precise when I said $150... I meant in US dollars...sorry....Im looking seriously into the Metropolitan as a first choice...2nd is Le Soleil and 3rd the Listel....what are your thoughts..also Im thinking about doing an overnight trip to victoria...got any suggestions for a hotel there??? Dont want to spend loads for just one night but dont want a trashy dump either...something nearby the bus station...thanks

We did three nights at the Listel last year and loved the location. The room was fine and the breakfast in the restaurant (extra with vouchers) was also fine.
Depends on what you like, but we like to walk a town and Listel was an easy jaunt (for us) to upscale and lower Robson (right as you exit the Listel for upscale and left for lower Robson), Stanly Park, Granville Island, Victoria Harbor, etc. Lower Robson has every manner of shop, cafe, and restaurant of many nationalities. We loved the variety of this area. On three successive nights we ate in a Korean restaurant (Jang Mo Jip) that doesn't see many caucasions, a Hungarian restaurant (Europa Cafe) that was almost as good as my Grandmother's food and a fine little French Restaurant (The Chef and the Carpenter). We looked seriously at Ukranian, Savadorian, Italian and many others. We reallky loved the vitality of this area. Have a great trip.

I'd consider a 4* bid on Priceline for the Vancouver zone only. Otherwise you don't have much control over where you will end up. But you're likely to be successful for a bid in the $45-60 range, plus taxes and fees.

Check out The West End Guest House about two street from Robson street. We found that it was close to many places. It is a very nice bed and breakfast that serves an outstanding breakfast. You won't be dissapointed
