Accommodations on PEI

Staying three nights on PEI, one in Summerside and considering two in Charlottetown to tour the eastern side of PEI? Does that sound like good idea? Any recommendations for lodging, moderately priced B/B? Other smaller locations you would recommend instead, further east along the shore? Thanks!

Hi again, Karen. Do a Fodor's "topic" search on Prince Edward Island--you'll get 50 entries some of which must deal with accommodations. I'm not all that entranced with eastern PEI; the western part is lovely and there's lot to see. Even if you don't stay there, have dinner at the Loyalist Inn in Summerside. Or stay there for a night and swank it up.

Thanks for the Fitzroy Hall suggestion. I have booked there, sounds like it will fill the bill indeed!

We just returned last month from spending 3 days on PEI. Since you will be in Summerside, try to plan a side trip to Victory-By-The-Sea. It's off the beaten trail but only about 15 minutes from the bridge, so it's close to Sumemrside. It has a small cafe with extremely good food. It also has a small community theatre with performances each night. The town is small, only about 4 blocks, but it is quite beautiful.

The town's name is actually Victoria-by-the Sea and it is indeed lovely. We enjoyed a dinner at that marvelous cafe just last month (it is located catty-corner from the town's theater). Other things to enjoy there include a scrumptious chocolate shop, a lighthouse, and a quirky candle shop with candle holders molded from PEI sand.
